Hi, I'm blogging about my dream to formally claim the project/idea. Haha.
Okay, here's the context:
In my dream, I was apprenticing this girl (I forget her name) who has been working on this art project (a
huge project) since she was sixteen — & she was older than me in the dream, maybe in her 20s, I don't think thirties.
Okay. This art project. Let me tell you. It's a dream in its own! It's a blast/tour of several rooms... each room with its own 3-dimensional scene that you explore and GO THOUGH (it looks real, but you can't physically feel it all (except some bright-light parts of it kind of hurt the eyes)) as if it's a hologram (& I dunno the technology, but maybe it is classified as a projection hologram) — all special effects — timed to your spot within each room — I don't know if any "animation" is involved (although I s'pose you could say that each perspective (like in a hologram) is keyframed/baked in 3D space).
(Unfortunately, it's fuzzy by now, but it was still clear when I woke up ~ two hours ago...) Melting windows (quite iconic; I remember a yellow four-panel window that looked normal, then melted as I moved toward & through it, I also remember another window in the same room; it was a decent formal composition)... very abstract/surreal/
Magritte-influenced ♥ , and
Dali of course... hanging ornaments (again, iconic; many hanging point-cut diamond shapes, all purple, and all decorated as if home-made)... smoke...
layers of imagery/effects to walk through... often a changing scene according to your place in the room.
I think in my dream, it was inspired by her life, and it was an abstract/surreal narrative of minimal elements/imagery and effects.
She had no time for a personal life, really. I was to live at her place and help her out where possible. She asked me to tell her I was capable of, and I had her 3D modeled project in mind when answering. I told her, Maya, Cinema 4D (I Freudian-slipped in my dream and said Cinnamon 4D, then joked + giggled), ...PhotoShop...
But she said her project was coded in #B. (I think in my dream, this meant C# or some programming language.) I said, "WOW. I would be more than happy to study & learn to help." She basically told me what kinds of things I should/could help out with, which basically turned out to be everything that didn't have directly to do with her art project. -_-; This way, she could concentrate on it.
There was more to the dream, e.g., how she paid her rent (it was odd, let me tell you: she had a deal with the post men (or her landlord? :P ) in which she held packages there (like a collateral) until they needed to deliver them), the bed I slept in (I won't go into detail other than I was scared to sleep at night, haha; it was freaky/scary (e.g., heavy-looking iron pointy things hanging above my bed)), and the neighborhood (I even learned the street names in my dream). Yes, it was like another life. I wish I could remember this girl's name (I encountered it several times). She was real pretty: short, styled hair (very maintained & edgy), kind of a redhead, very sweet, kind of tall like me, and very precise. She worded things eloquently.
She had no portfolio. This was her only (her most important) art project she lived for currently, and she just needed to finish it.
So when I experienced it in my dream, she wasn't even finished with it yet.
I got to watch her work on a scene; that was awesome. I was actually supposed to be taking care of something instead, but I wanted to watch her work. In doing this, I was trying to ask her a question (but not bug her too much), and she was trying to concentrate. So, I shut up, and the truck left before I had the chance (I needed to give them an invoice). Oh, well. :P
I was watching her work on the "smoke" scene. She started out by painting a very tall & wide (several feet) scene on a canvas. It looked like tall/skinny vases or candlesticks with incense smoke coming out. Her skill & technique was excellent; she could paint things very realistically, but surrealistically.
I caught her at the beginning and the end of the same painting. It was awesome watching the process. She layered and layered and layered. I think she used found materials/scraps too (but very well-chosen). The point of this scene was to enter the room and only see the painting, but when you walk further in, then *somehow* (I don't know her technology), with special effects, the hologram takes over and the painting hides, and it looks just like you're walking through the painting, and the layers of smoke surround you. Just an epic experience, trickery of the eye.
Okay... I would like to research how this can be done, and I would like to make this sort of experience possible. But for now, I am claiming it by publishing it online. It's May 28, 2013.
